THE BANKER
A reluctant path that led to transformative leadership.
Architecture & Poetry vs. Economics
A career in banking was not Abubakar's first choice. In secondary school, he was passionate about architecture and literature. However, practical considerations prevailed, and he opted for Economics at the University of Abuja.
He later earned a Master of Science in Major Programs Management from the prestigious Said Business School at the University of Oxford, where he authored papers on monetary theory and gendered leadership.
This academic rigor, combined with his creative interests, allowed him to approach banking not just as a numbers game, but as a system for human development.
